Since the launching of the appeal for Madagascar, the Red Cross Society of Seychelles has been getting a lot of contributions from members of the public in the form of cash and basic commodities. And this week, the NS was in two specific areas collecting item from 8.30a.m to 2.30 p.m. People donated food items and cash and in return they were awarded with a pocket flag, “I helped Madagascar”. During the coming week the NS will work with the Seychelles Defence Forces and the Malagasy Red Cross to finalise the last details pertaining to the SDF’s trip to drop off the commodities. The RCSS and the SDF launched an appeal for people to donate basic food items after the NS launched the initial appeal for cash only because of the freight cost to send the commodities to Madagascar. The SDF will be on a mission in the region and has also used this opportunity to bring in as much help as they can to the affected population.
