
The Red Cross Programmes Coordinator, Jean Yves Joseph conducted a dissemination session with senior managers from the Ministry of Education on how to conduct Contact Tracing with parents, children and teachers. Schools across the country reopened two weeks ago and the RCSS assisted with screening, social distancing and conducted an assessment.
The one hour session yesterday RCSS’ programme Coordinator, spoke of how to gather information, importance of records and data collection. Much importance was also put on the need for confidentiality, and for the MOE to consider reviewing its internal procedures on confidentiality.
The Principal Secretary for Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary Education Department, Odile Decomarmond, pointed out that the RCSS has always been there whenever they need its assistance. She commended the National Society’s hard work and devotion and appreciates the efforts done to ensure the smooth running of things during this COVID pandemic. ” The RCSS and the MOE should continue working together, to continue the good coordination and collaboration”, noted P.S Decomarmond.
For his part, Mr Joseph reiterated on the importance of close collaboration and also thanks the MOE for being accomodating.
According to Ms Regina Prosper, the Director for Health, Safety and Risk Management Section, the participants enjoyed the session, and it was well understood.
The RCSS and the MOE has a long-standing relationship and last year the two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding in October last year for the implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction activities in schools.
