RCSS receives SR60, 000 from Linyon Demokratik Seselwa, LDS

In a short ceremony at the National Society’s Headquarters, Providence, Honorable Wavel Ramkalawan, on behalf of the Linyon Demokratik Seselwa, LDS, presented a cheque of (SR60, 000) sixty thousand rupees to Mr Gerry Henry, Vice-President of the Red Cross Society of Seychelles.

Mr Ramkalawan noted in his remarks that the RCSS is doing a lot to assist the vulnerable people in the country: “the Red Cross is everywhere; in Contact Tracing, making donations to foster homes, school children in need and assisting the families affected by the recent fire on Praslin. We recognise your hard work and hope that this donation will contribute to improving the lives of those in need”.

And for his part, the RCSS Vice-Chair, thanked the LDS for thinking of the Red Cross and also calls on other people, organisations to come forth and assist those in need: “the contribution will be appropriately used and we recognise the efforts done by the parliament members to assist the Red Cross Society of Seychelles”.

During the month of April LDS announced that its parliament members would donate 10% of their salaries over the next three months to different organisations to help during the COVID 19 pandemic.
