The Secretary General of the Red Cross Society of Seychelles, RCSS, Mrs Marie-May Bastienne officially launched a campaign asking people to donate cash or kind to assist the vulnerable people in the country, during the COVID 19 pandemic. This was done in a short ceremony at the RCSS Headquarters, on Friday 8th May to commemorate World Red Cross Day; under the theme: “I give with joy, and joy is my reward”.
And for his part, the President of the National Society, Mr. Kisnan Tamatave, spoke about the need to for us all to be stronger and more united to face the challenges that the coronavirus has brought about.
Mr Tamatave noted in his address that the ‘new normal’ and its duration remains uncertain, but what is certain is that each one of us should find ways to surmount the challenges.
The ceremony was attended by volunteers involved in the COVID 19 pandemic for the past month and it was organised in an effort to recognise their hard work.
A young volunteer, Danio Vidot spoke of his experience working to assist the Department of Risk and Disaster Management, in Movement Permits.
Also during the ceremony, the NS presented one of its youngest sponsors, Amary Francoise for providing the volunteers with snacks during their standby at the Ministry of Health.
