During the past years, the Red Cross Society of Seychelles has been providing ambulance services at mass gathering and also assists the Ministry of Health when responding to local emergencies or disasters. To ensure sustainability in its support and services, the National Society provided the opportunity for 8 new volunteers to be trained as ambulance drivers. Through a one day training, held end of November , RCSS volunteers had the opportunity to have an overview of what it is like to work in a humanitarian environment in addition to theroles and responsibilities of ambulance drivers during an emergency. They also discussed as to what makes a good driver amongst other topics. Participants also had the opportunity to practice their newly found skills through an afternoon drill and driving exercise.
