After more than a month of generous support, the third Appeal for Madagascar, launched on the 3rd February 2025 by the Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS) and the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) has officially closed on 28th March 2025.
The appeal was initiated in collaborative effort with the SDF to assist the vulnerable populations in Madagascar during times of crisis, especially those being affected by the devastating weather impacts, including cyclones.
The RCSS would like to extend its deepest gratitude to the people of Seychelles, the companies who generously contributed, and the media for their vital role in raising awareness and encouraging donations. We are incredibly appreciative of the outpouring of support, and it is heartwarming to see so many coming forward to offer what they could to assist our neighbors in Madagascar.
At the same time, we must acknowledge that there are people here in Seychelles who also require our help. Many donors have chosen to split their contributions between Madagascar and the RCSS, allowing us to continue supporting both efforts and strengthening the partnerships that will help our own communities.
All food donations will now be carefully sorted, packed, and loaded onto the SDF vessel Saya de Malha by RCSS staff and volunteers, with assistance from the SDF. Monetary donations will be transferred to the Croix Rouge Madagascar (Madagascar Red Cross), who will keep us informed of how the funds are being used to aid those in need. The RCSS will also provide regular updates to the media regarding the progress of the aid efforts.
Once again, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to this appeal. Your kindness and generosity will make a significant difference to those who need it most.
