Victoria, Seychelles – The Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS), in collaboration with the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF), has dispatched over 15,000 kilograms of humanitarian aid to Madagascar aboard the SDF vessel Saya de Malha.
The loading of the consignment took place on Wednesday, 9th April 2025, at the New Port in Victoria.
This shipment follows a joint humanitarian appeal launched in March to support communities in Madagascar currently facing ongoing hardships. The aid includes both perishable and non-perishable items such as rice, fish, clothing, sanitary products, bottled water, and soft drinks, among other essentials.
The Secretary General of the RCSS stated that the organisation is working closely with the Malagasy Red Cross to ensure the smooth coordination of operations upon the arrival of Saya de Malha in Madagascar. SDF officers are also expected to assist with the distribution of the goods, although the specific areas of distribution are yet to be confirmed.
Following the completion of the operation, the Malagasy Red Cross is expected to provide a report and photographic documentation, as was done during the previous initiative.
