The Red Cross Society of Seychelles attends the launching of the 25th Edition of the Youth Festival

With the theme ‘Pozitivite Toulezour’ the Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC) launched its 25th Youth Festival at the Victoria Gymnasium on Friday Evening. The event this year, which takes place from August 9 to August 18, is devoted to honoring the Seychelles Youth’s limitless creativity and the force of positivism.

In his introductory remarks, Mr. Albert Duncan, Chief Executive of SNYC, emphasized the festival’s ten-day program’s diversity, which includes events in a range of sectors such as health, sports and culture amongst others. He remarked that “With new approaches of the SNYC, we will make sure that the youth not only participate but are leaders that form our community and future with their actions and dreams”

Additionally, Mr. Duncan expressed gratitude to the organizations supporting the SYNC, such as the Red Cross Society of Seychelles, which will soon be signing a Memorandum of Understanding to expand their collaboration with the youths.

Officially launching the event was Mrs. Marie-Celine Zialor, the Minister of Youth, Sports, and Family, who also addressed the youths present by highlighting the pressing issue of mental health and the necessity of ongoing efforts to assist the wellness of young people.

After the official launch, the audience was treated to a variety of performances that showcased the youth’s energy and diversity. These performances included intriguing poetry, traditional dances, and stand-up comedy that kept the audience captivated.

The RCSS was represented by its Programme Coordinator Mr. Jean-Yves Joseph, along with its Communication and Resource Mobilisation Coordinator Ms. Bettina Azemia and two (2) of its volunteers, Ms. Mirenda Hoareau and Mr. Andrea Laval.
