In an effort to strengthen their partnership and involve more youths in the Red Cross Movement, the Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS) and the Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC) Youth Engagement and Support Section organized a working session on Saturday, July 20, 2024, with youths and representative youth brigades from Mahe’s various regions.
The training was attended by over seventy-five (75) youths and was facilitated by RCSS trained disseminators alongside members of the RCSS staff.
The CEO of SNYC Mr. Albert Duncan, opened the session with some encouraging remarks and the RCSS team followed by covering a wide range of topics, including the organization’s mission, vision, and values; the benefits of volunteering; youth programs that SNYC youth can participate in; the blood donation program; and more. A range of interactive activities were also included, which helped participants better understand the session’s content.
Throughout the talk, young participants asked a number of questions to better understand the RCSS’ role and programs, some of which focused on the movement’s fundamental principles and others on the RCSS’s position during the CCCL explosion and how the RCSS ensures that donations are used efficiently.
Following the session, participants who were interested in joining the movement and supporting their local communities met with the RCSS team to further express their interest and to discuss any remaining questions they may have.
