The Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS) conducts an Information session with partners including Media Houses

The RCSS organized a second information session with partners, including media houses in Seychelles to inform them about the ongoing Seychelles Conservation and Climate Adaptation Trust (SeyCCAT) Project to develop Early Action Protocols for Seychelles.

Mr. Benjamin Vel, the RCSS SEYCCAT Project Coordinator, led the session, which was held at the Roche Caiman District Administration on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Participants in the session included representatives from SEYCCAT, the Ministry of Agriculture, Climate Change & Environment, the Seychelles Media Commission, and the Seychelles Broadcasting Cooperation (SBC).

During the session, attendees had the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the RCSS SeyCCAT project’s goals, anticipated results, community and public expectations, ongoing activities, and how it fits into the broader national strategy.

Media Secretary, Ms. Henderson thanked the RCSS for involving the media and emphasized to media practitioners to seize the opportunity of such workshop as they are the ones who will be at the front line working when such a disaster occurs. She emphasized how crucial it is for them to possess the necessary skills and capacities in addition to being aware of the preparations in place in the event that such incidents do occur.

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Vel urged everyone to support the efforts being done under the project in order for it to succeed and benefit all of Seychelles.
