During the certificate presentation ceremony, which took place on Friday 15th November 2024, at the St Paul’s Cathedral, a total of a hundred (100) participants, including eight (8) representatives from the Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS) who completed the ‘Train of Trainers’ Peacebuilding and Conflict resolution training received their certificates.

The certificates were presented by President Wavel Ramkalawan who commended the efforts of the participants and all those involved in fostering unity and understanding amongst different religious faiths in Seychelles.

In his opening remarks, President of the Seychelles Inter-faith Council (SIFCO), Archdeacon Danny Elizabeth, expressed his sincere gratitude to the participants who were instrumental in the project’s success and thanked them for their hard work and devotion.

Participants’ testimonies emphasized the value of peace, the contribution the training will make to promoting peace among others, and the need to better comprehend one another’s ideas and viewpoints in day-to-day interactions.

Following the certificate presentation, the President received special recognition for his unwavering advocacy and support of the project and received a copy of the training manual as a token of appreciation for his contributions as well as a small bird of peace.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Julia Malbrook, and a blessing by Bishop James Wong followed by refreshments and group photo.

The two-day workshop on promoting and strengthening peace in workplaces was held at the Roche Caiman Community Center on October 15th – 16th and November 7th – 8th 2024, and was attended by representatives from various organizations, including the Seychelles Police Force (SPF), the Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC), the Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS), churches, and more.

Participants are now qualified trainers who are equipped to promote national unity, foster non-violence, and develop peace in communities, workplaces, and homes.
