The Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS) has commenced its first-ever Organisational Capacity Assessment and Certification (OCAC) workshop, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the National Society’s capacity to better serve vulnerable communities.
With the humanitarian landscape continuously evolving, the RCSS has recognised the importance of reviewing and assessing its organisational capacity to remain relevant, effective, and responsive to the needs of the communities it serves.
The three-day workshop brings together 15 staff and volunteers and is facilitated by Mr. Roger Fischli, Senior Officer, National Society Development Services Department of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and Ms. Virginie Triot, Executive Director Foundation, French Red Cross.
OCAC is an IFRC-developed process that enables National Societies to assess their organisational strengths, identify areas for improvement, and develop a roadmap for strengthening governance, leadership, management systems, volunteer development, accountability, and service delivery.
For the RCSS, this is the beginning of a long-term organisational development journey. Following the self-assessment, the National Society will implement an improvement plan to address identified priorities. Once these improvements have been successfully achieved and validated by the IFRC, the RCSS will be recognised as an OCAC-certified National Society, demonstrating its commitment to excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Through this process, the RCSS is investing in a stronger, more resilient organisation that is better equipped to meet the humanitarian needs of the people of Seychelles, now and in the future.
