Aspiring Nurses Join RCSS as First-Aid Volunteers

The Nursing Association of Seychelles supports and mentors young aspiring nurses from secondary schools across the country.

Today, on the occasion of the Inter-School Athletics Competition, and in a bid to promote youth engagement in health and community service, the Plaisance and English River groups of aspiring nurses joined the Red Cross as support first-aid volunteers.

“They are not yet certified first aiders, but we felt it would be valuable exposure for them to be part of this event and gain hands-on experience in basic care, emergency response, and teamwork in a high-energy setting,” said Sandra Sabury, Red Cross volunteer and nurse by profession, who oversees the Plaisance Secondary School group of aspiring nurses.

Although many are still uncertain about pursuing careers in healthcare, developing a sense of responsibility, togetherness, and volunteerism is an important first step in sparking their interest. The group consisted of around a dozen aspiring youth along with their group leaders.
