Media Practitioners undergoes two-day training on Access and Safety

The Seychelles Media Commission (SMC), in collaboration with the Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS), is undergoing a two-day training session on Access & Safety, which is the very first of its kind in Seychelles.

The training encompasses important subjects including the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and Human Rights, Psychosocial support for media practitioners and the importance of having Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in place.

The purpose of the training is to maintain the safety of media personnel at all times by providing them with the information and tools they need to navigate dynamic and occasionally potentially hazardous settings.

The program, which spans over two weeks, from Monday 9th – Tuesday 10th September and from Monday 16th – Tuesday 17th September offers participants the flexibility to attend classes according to what works best for them. The training is targeting a broad spectrum of media personnel, such as heads of media organizations, managers of operations and human resources, health and safety officers, journalists and presenters from the newsroom and production departments, operators of cameras, lights, and sound, and photographers.
