World Red Cross Red Crescent Day is celebrated worldwide each year on the 8th of May to honour our Movement’s spirit of compassion, neutrality, and unwavering support for humanity.
This year’s theme—”On the Side of Humanity”—reminds us of our responsibility as members of the Red Cross and Red Crescent family. It reminds us that, in every act of service, every gesture of kindness, and every sacrifice made to support others, we are choosing to stand firmly on the side of humanity.
This theme resonates especially deeply at the Red Cross Society of Seychelles. Over the past two years, we have faced our own challenges. Our headquarters suffered significant damage, which has impacted our head quarters and daily operations. And yet, despite these obstacles, despite the difficulties our staff and volunteers have endured, we never stopped serving. We continued to respond to the needs, to stand beside our communities, and to offer hope and support where it was needed most.
This resilience, this unwavering commitment to our mission, is what it truly means to be on the side of humanity.
Because being on the side of humanity means standing strong, even when times are hard.
We also recognize the incredible dedication of our volunteers, partners and families and every person who chooses to put humanity first.
Together, we are building a more compassionate, resilient world. Let us continue to move forward with courage and compassion. Let us continue to lift each other up. Let us remain, always, on the side of humanity.
