World Humanitarian Day

Thursday 19th August is the World Humanitarian Day, WHD, and the Red Cross Society of Seychelles, RCSS, is organizing a small ceremony to commemorate the day at 9.00 am at its Headquarters, Providence.

The theme for this year is #theHumanRace, to put focus on the severe Climate Change crisis that has gripped several countries across the world. On this WHD day, people who have sacrificed their lives for humanitarian causes and dedicated their lives to humanitarian welfare are honoured. It is also a day to celebrate humanity and the spirit that inspires people to help others who are in need, even in difficult and dangerous situations, often putting their own lives as risk.

Present will be Miss Seychelles, Ms. Kelly-Mary Anette to symbolically thank and honour volunteers and staff of the RCSS for their noble humanitarian work.

Also on the agenda Ms. Anette will be meeting with the RCSS Management to discuss the ongoing projects of her foundation, the Maylene’s Hope Foundation and a possible partnership with the RCSS, with the aim of assisting and strengthening her work.

The media is invited to cover the event.
