RCSS to provide assistance in Presidential and National Assembly Elections

As Seychelles heads to the poll today in the Presidential & National Assembly Elections the 22nd October 2020, the Red Cross Society of Seychelles, RCSS is already on site on Silhouette. The NS, an active partner in this election alongside the Department of Risk and Disaster Management, DRDM, and the Electoral Office have been preparing to ensure that the elections are goes well. The RCSS has mobilized about ninety, (90) volunteers and staff to assist in the provision of the followings:
• first Aid and ambulance services
• Safety/social distancing at all polling stations
• Ensure that a high level of hygiene is observed at all times especially during the COVID 19 pandemic.

The RCSS Command Post has laso been activated very early in the morning.
Over five thousand six hundred (5600) people have registered to cast their votes at ten (10) special voting stations on Mahe, Praslin, Silhouette and other outer islands. The main polling day is on Saturday the 24th October 2020, where over seventy-four thousand (74,000) people are registered to vote. There are 26 polling stations.
The Presidential and National Assembly Elections will take place from the 22nd to the 24th October 2020. Three candidates are vying for the presidential seat; Mr Danny Faure for United Seychelles, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan for Linyon Demokratik Seselwa and Mr Alain St Ange for One Seychelles.

RCSS volunteers on the island have been made very welcomed by all stakeholders and are presently on standby to ensure that all goes well.
