Two companies make donations towards the Appeal for Madagascar

As part of the Appeal for Madagascar that was launched earlier this month, the Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS) accepted donations from two companies in a short presentation ceremony.

This was done on Wednesday 12th February 2025 at the Seychelles Fishing Authority Fishing Port at Providence.

The first was a donation of five (5) tonnes of seafood products of various varieties and cuts by the JHL Group (Pty) Ltd, Amirante Fisheries. Representing the JHL Group was Ms. Jade Lesperance, director of the Amirante Fisheries who handed over the donation to Ms. Kelly-Anne Ah-Kong, the RCSS Finance Coordinator and Chaplain Louis Agathine from the Seychelles Defence Force (SDF) in the presence of the company’s managing director Mr. James Lesperance.

In his remarks, Mr. Lesperance said that it was an honor for his company to contribute to such a noble cause to help those in need. He stated that in addition to contributing to the Appeal for Madagascar, the group will also be donating 250 kg of fish products each month to the RCSS. This will then be distributed to individuals and families in Seychelles who do not have the means to buy such products.

Following this, Sodepak Industries Ltd also presented the RCSS and the SDF with their donation of two thousand (2000) bottles of water, two thousand (2000) mixed lemonade as well as some fifty (50) mattresses that will also be loaded up to distribute to those affected in Madagascar.

Ms. Domoina Rakotomanana, Cashier from Sodepak Industries Ltd handed over the donation and stated that the company is very happy to have responded to the call and that she hopes that the donation will touch the hearts of the recipients.

Upon accepting both donations, Chaplain Louis Agathine and Ms. Kelly-Anne Ah-Kong, both thanked the two companies for their generous donation, hoping that the partnership between them continues to grow. Ms. Ah-Kong also seize the opportunity to call upon other organizations and individuals wishing to donate towards the appeal to contact the RCSS at any time to make the necessary arrangements.

The appeal was launched in collaborative effort with the SDF to assist the vulnerable populations in Madagascar during times of crisis. The collection of donations has begun from the 04th February 2025 and will last until the end of March 2025. Upon collection of the donations, the SDF will then ensure its efficient transportation and delivery to Mahajanga, Madagascar that is due to take place between the 18th – 25th of April 2025.
